PERFORMANCE BASED FIELD TRIPS & OUTINGS

We are so excited to offer you an expanded listing of Field Trip Opportunities and hope that you will consider scheduling time to visit our facility. The Fountain Inn Center 2011-2012 School Matinee Opportunities and School Field Trips – where You come to us!

OPTION 1:  For Grades K4 - 8th

FIREfly & wildFIRE will present their second show of the season In March when they bring you “Schoolhouse Rock Live, Jr.” Based on the ABC-Emmy Award-winning Saturday morning educational cartoon series which aired from the 1970s – 1980s. This fun and energetic musical will surely delight both school audiences and evening audiences alike. Schoolhouse Rock Live! Junior opens at 6 AM as Tom Mizer, a young teacher, wakes up on his first day of work. With songs like “Three is a Magic Number,” “Unpack your Adjectives,” and “A Noun is a Person, Place, or Thing,” you will learn something too!

Field Trip Booking Specifications

FOR GRADES: K4 through 8th this show emphasizes English, Math, Science and more.COST:  $3 per ticket

PERFORMANCES:

  • Thursday, March 15 @ 10:00 AM

  • Friday, March 16 @ 10:00 AM

OPTION 2:  For Grades 5th - 12th

Based on Louisa May Alcott's own family experiences (and novel), LITTLE WOMEN, follows the adventures of Jo, Meg, Beth and Amy March as they grow up in Civil War America. The beloved story of the March sisters is timeless and deals with issues as relevant today as when they were written. LITTLE WOMEN embodies the complete theatrical experience, guaranteeing a day filled with laughter, tears, and a lifting of the spirit. This powerful score soars with the sounds of personal discovery, heartache and hope -- the sounds of a young America finding its voice. Presented by Artios Academy this field trip opportunity is provided to you.

Field Trip Booking Specifications

FOR GRADES: 5th through 12th this addresses standards in English Language Arts, Social Studies and Performing Arts.COST:  $3 per ticket

PERFORMANCES:

  • Thursday, April 12th @ 10:00 AM

  • Friday, April 13th @ 10:00 AM

About Tickets

Ticket rates for our school shows are $3/ticket Each person attending the show (children, teachers, and chaperones) needs a ticket A 50% deposit is due to the Fountain Inn Center two weeks after booking your reservation. Contracts are not valid until deposits have been received. Final counts and balance is due one month prior to the performance Deposits and final payments are non-refundable. Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis Please notify the Civic Center in advance if any special assistance, such as handicapped seating, is needed. 

About Performance Day

For performances beginning at 10:00 am, please arrive at the Theater (located at 315 N. Main Street) as close to 9:40 AM as possible. For performances beginning at 12:30pm, please arrive at the Theater as close to 12:10 as possible. Please keep the children on the bus upon arrival until a Theatre representative greets you. The Theatre representative will make a few announcements to your group and let you know when and where to unload the bus. After the performance, please remain in your seats and the house manager will dismiss groups as their buses arrive. For problems or questions on show day contact the Manager on Duty at 864/409-1050.

Information for Bus Drivers

Performances take place at the Fountain Inn Center, located at 315 N. Main Street For drop off and pick up, the buses should enter the circle and be facing south on Main Street. A Theatre representative will let you know what time to come back to pick the group up. The best place for buses to park is behind the Center in the large parking lot.

Additional School-age field trips

A world of wonder awaits at the Fountain Inn Center for Visual and Performing Arts. All Field Trips are by reservation only during the school year.

Beyond The Stage Door Field Trip: “Stories Alive!” For grades K5-5th

The Fountain Inn  Center’s education program is proud to offer this exciting drama based field trip for schools and home school associations.  The two hour field trip includes:  Overview of Theatre: The field trip package was designed to provide an overview of  theatre, from the intricacies of the of acting to the complexities of staging a production at the Fountain Inn Center for Visual & Performing Arts.

  • In the first part, the students explore the world of theatre by learning terminology and improvisation. 
  • The second part consists of a back-stage tour where students will get a rare look at the world the audience doesn't see including the dressing rooms, backstage and more. Students will also get an actor's view of our stage and some work in auditioning.

Cost for a two hour field trip: For 10-14 students: $100.00 ; For 15-30 students: $115.00Lunch Option: After the first hour, groups may break for a half hour lunch at the theatre. Students bring their own lunch. We can provide lunch for students for an additional fee of $2.00 per person.


Beyond The Stage Door Field Trip: “Triple Threat” For grades 5 - 12

The Fountain Inn  Center’s education program is proud to offer this exciting drama based field trip for schools and home school associations.  The two hour field trip includes:  Overview of Musical Theatre: The field trip package was designed to provide an overview of musical theatre, from the intricacies of the “triple threat” of acting, singing, and dancing to the complexities of staging a musical theatre production at the Fountain Inn Civic Center for the Performing Arts.

  • In the first part, the students are taught a song and dance routine from a Broadway musical in the theatre. This package allows the schools to choose the Broadway show and song they would like to have taught to their students. (We reserve the right to shorten the piece)
  • The second part consists of a back-stage tour where students will get a rare look at the world the audience doesn't see including the dressing rooms, backstage and more. Students will also get an actor's view of our stage and some work in improvisation and auditioning.

Cost for a two hour field trip: For 10-14 students: $100.00 ; For 15-30 students: $115.00Lunch Option: After the first hour, groups may break for a half hour lunch at the theatre. Students bring their own lunch. We can provide lunch for students for an additional fee of $2.00 per person.

Making Art for Art's Sake

Our visual arts field trips offer a customized program to meet the needs of your group. We can offer Multi-media experiences,pottery, acrylic painting for K4 through adults. Cost for a two hour field trip beings at $8 per person (depending on supplies needed).
